If your classes have moved online, it doesn't change how you can use Note Taking Express.
It does change how you create the recording.

Note Taking Express provides summary notes like this through an online platform.

Getting notes from online classes

You will need to have your recording and to upload your recording to your account.

  • You might be able to request a recording from your instructor.
  • If you can view your lecture from your iPhone/iPad, you could capture the screen and audio from the built-in recording function.
  • Or, you could record the audio from the speakers on a laptop using your mobile phone if you are in a quiet space.

Recording different device screens and audio

Below we have included some information and links to resources describing how you can capture your device screen and audio. You can take this approach to capture streamed lectures for example.

Please ensure your microphone is turned on to record audio. We advise to test for issues before trying to record an online lecture.

Windows 10

The Xbox Game Bar is built in to Windows 10 for capturing videos and screenshots while playing PC games, but it works great for more than just games! Information on recording both the screen and audio can be found on the Windows Support website. Click the link below for instructions.

For MacOS Mojave and newer versions, you can open the built in screen recording application by holding Shift-Command (⌘)-5 on your keyboard. For older operating systems, screen recording can be achieved with the built in QuickTime Player application. At the time of writing there is no standard screen recording offering shipped with all Android devices. In this case, we recommend using a third-party app called Mobizen to record your screen and audio. You can find out more information on the Mobizen Play Store listing. Click the link below for more information and to get started.
